Los Altares, a journey between stone giants
Visiting Los Altares is a journey that is not forgotten: the enormous stone cliffs that surround National Route 25, with the Chubut River bordering the other side of the route, remain on the retina of all who live the experience.
To know the largest Protected Natural Area in Chubut you have to travel by vehicle along National Route 25. It is impossible not to be amazed by the huge walls on one side of the road, which delimit this valley with the Chubut River on the other side. 100 kilometers long and 15 kilometers wide preserve an interaction of nature and cultural heritage, which includes rock paintings by Tehuelche settlers.
But the experience of the area is lived in person: trekking is the ideal activity to enjoy amazing landscapes and from the town of Los Altares discover one of the most important geological heritage of Argentina.
