Esquel arises as an extension of Colonia 16 de Octubre and is taken as the founding date of February 25, 1906, when the telegraph service begins to function, its operator being Mr. Medardo Morelli.
The city of Esquel is the most important in the entire Chubut mountain range.

It has all the necessary services to enjoy an excellent stay: accommodation, gastronomy, regional, travel agencies and tourism, etc.

The Patagonian steppe and Andean forest blend perfectly around the city, located at the foot of the mountain range in a valley of glacial origin. The city of Esquel is located in the northwest of the province of Chubut, located in the Futaleufú department. At a distance of 1852 km from the City of Buenos Aires, 284 km from the City of San Carlos de Bariloche, 671 km from the City of Puerto Madryn and 596 km from the City of Comodoro Rivadavia.
Esquel is located in a valley on the banks of the Esquel stream and surrounded by the Nahuel Pan and Esquel cords, the latter being Cerro 21 and La Hoya, where the ski center is located. Minor elevations such as La Cruz hill and the German Leonidas, known as “La Zeta” complete the environment.
