Protected Natural Area Laguna Aleusco

It is a Tourist Nature Reserve with a Specific Objective that covers 1,200 hectares of Patagonian Steppe, located in the Department of Languiñeo near the municipality of Esquel and the Colan Coñuhe Rural Commune.

Its conservation objectives include:

  • Preservation of species and genetic diversity.
  • Protection of an area with a Patagonian plateau lagoon with nesting sites for the Southern Flamingo (Phoenicopterus chilensis) and other water birds.

The 1,200 hectares have management category of Strict Nature Reserve / Wilderness Area and are under the administration of the Undersecretariat for Conservation and Protected Areas of Chubut, the domain of the territory is provincial prosecutor and has a degree of control in null terrain, without the presence of agents.

It is not open to visitors and there is no population that inhabits the territory.
